Peanut Butter Balls

If you are avoiding peanut butter, use almond butter. Although expensive, Barney's almond butter works best.

Peanut Butter Balls was shared by a friend years ago and we have remade it often. Because it is no-bake, I have made it with my kindergarten class and our 4H group.

We use these sprouted oats purchased from Costco. Store them in the freezer if you use them infrequently. If you use a different brand, remember to look for “gluten free” as oats are often processed with other grains.

I do want to add this is not a Paleo recipes due to the oats and the peanut butter. However, sprouted grains are always better. Read more about why here.

Secondly, peanuts are technically in the legume family.  We usually opt for almond butter. However, it is not cheap!

Peanut Butter Balls

This recipe is thanks to my friend, Rebecca. It has been a winner that we have passed on to many families. We do not always have peanut butter in the house, so we often substitute almond butter. We recommend Barney's Smooth Almond Butter. We also recommend One Degree Organic Sprouted Rolled Oats available at Costco but any oats will do. This recipe is easy to double as well.

Instructions

Instructions

  • Mix oatmeal and coconut.
  • Add honey and peanut butter. Mix with a spatula or sturdy spoon.
  • This is the messy part! Once you have mixed as thoroughly as you can, it is time to use your hands! Roll 1½ inch balls. Place on parchment paper lined container or in small muffin liners.
  • Store in the refrigerator or freeze.

Notes

Read your peanut butter labels. Organic is the best, but obviously more expensive and some of the organic peanut butters that separate are not smooth enough for this recipe. Look for Natural Jif or Natural Skippy. Most other peanut butters contain hydrogenated oils.

Peanut Butter Balls are a great recipe to do with your child!

Another good non-food activity is making a thankful jar together.

Click on the label to print for your own jar. Add what you are thankful for and fill up the jar. When you fill it up, go through and read a few each day as you take them out.
